Hey guys,

I took out a contract with MTN only for their 50gb per month free, but notice that the speeds are quite slow on certain services.

My primary reason for this was for work purposes, where I need to remotely connect to my companies VPN.
I was getting DC quite often, then thought about downloading a torrent to see if it actually is throttled/shaped.
I also asked my son to try out some online gaming , and with that too unsuccessful.

Any solution to this problem ?

TIA !

Having the same issues, VPNS are throttled to heck get pings from 200ms UK and full speed but as soon as i connect a vpn pings go right to 1000ms with max throughput of 0.30MBps :(

MTN FIX THIS i am pay for my gigs so let me use them as i please

I have the same problem. Just collected my phone yesterday. As soon as I start some serious browsing or downloading when using it as a Wi-Fi hotspot, the speed drops to zero and ping becomes infinite.

This is absolutely not fair and I was not warned about it when purchasing the deal.

Hey guys.

No throttling or shaping. I pick up speeds of 70Mbps in many places and so did others. A speed issue will probably mean the coverage in your area is terrible or possible congestion.

For online gaming and vpn, phone customer care and activate the mtnvpn APN. Change the APN on your router or whatever to mtnvpn once the APN is active for you. Should solve the issues you're having.

Good luck!

Gosh sounds worrying. Waiting for two of those contracts.

Have you guys tried another mtn sim? Could be bad coverage.
