MTN Black Friday Discussions

Mmmmmm, this could work for me. So technically one could go for the R149 20gb deal and bolt on 100 minutes of talk time each month or as needed @R136 extra, total R285?

This what I get from my new contract *136*2# voice menu, doesn't say how long the bundle lasts, or if you can stack it is basically R100 for 200 minutes, pretty sure it's only for a day, still if you buy the minutes as you need them with a R100, it's still cheaper then the bolt on and you get far more minutes. *edit is a daily bundle, checked my prepaid menu and I get additional offer of 60 minutes for R20.00, as far as I am aware daily bundles stack, rush hour doesn't you can only load one rush hour bundle at a time.

Also got these emails today. Have 3 contracts, mostly the same offers on all 3 emails. Think we’re all keen to know 1) Until when os this ‘tailored offer’ available?, 2) Do l/can we wait until Black Friday (I would like to think we can) and 3) mine says 30gb on top but says 60gb in the body of the offer (does that mean double your data 30gb = 60gb anytime data for R299?)

No 30gb anytime and 30gb night express, and neither one rolls over.

1) My contract only expires 6 December, so I'm hoping they'd let me switch to one of these anytime before then.
2) I really hope so
3) Yes, that is how I understand it too. Some of the other offers listed above are similar in that the data is double the contract name

I checked just double check again it's 60gb and 30gb night express my apologies.
That would make the deal even sweeter. Where do you see the night express allocation? The email I received doesn't say anything about night express.

2016 Black Friday specials we won’t see again with MTN. Seriously doubt it. These early offers are cos they are bleeding numbera and are using it as a stop gap until Black Friday is my besr guess... A reminder of MTN’s Black Friday deals in 2017 for some perspective IMG_0586.JPG

I also doubt MTN will have anything better than the offers we received today, but one of the other providers might. The other guys also know we're coming off the 2016 BF deal, so one of them might be keen to make a play for us.

Even if they don't, last year Telkom added 100min to their FreeMe packages. If they do the same this year, R305 will get you 5GB + 50GB video streaming + 10GB music streaming + 2GB whatsapp + 100 voice mins + 3000 Telkom mins. For my usage, that's a better deal than R299 for 60GB data.

did anybody give them a call yet to find out how long conversion to prepaid will take?
this will be needed before we can take any other BF deals :/

Only if you need to keep your number. Some (most?) of us have used this in a router so really have no need to keep the number.

Can cancel with an early cancellation penalty of R200+ and will get converted to prepaid in 24 hours. If not then will have to wait to 6 December and call in to cancel.

That would be leka indeed! I am getting unlimited voice calls via the Vox Vobi app (which uses my 3G/LTE connection) on my phone (unlimited calls to landlines AND cellphones) on Vox as part of my Fibre plan with them - so, MTN 30gb (or 60gb) for R299 + unlimited voice calle via Vox Vobi app = great deal!!!

Or, one can take the 30gb personalised offer from MTN and take the Vox Vobi Unlimited calling plan as a standalone for R325 p/m with Vox and you would come in at R625 p/m. That will give you 30gb data + unlimited cellphone and landline calls...

What is MTN Sky Unlimited with 30gb day go for now sim only? R1999?

Assuming so, compare that to MTN Sky Unlimited (excl the sms’e - but most of us WhatsApp?) and you save yourself +-R1350 p/m!

And no, I dont work for either MTN or Vox - if you hate expensive cellphone contracts like me and are always looking for super value deals - it’s a bit of a no-brainer if you put these two deals together to get close to the one of the best value cellphone deals you can create yourself on data and unlimited voice calls...

I'm assuming you've got the fibre at home? In that case, the 20GB deal for R149 bundled with your unlimited call package would be a great self-built bundle.

So let's look at this from a R149pm starting point. That was the magic number in 2016 for sim only. We got 50GB and 200min anytime for those Rands.

Now, 2yrs later, for the same money, they're offering us 20GB + 10GB night time.

My question: is there any better data deal available from any network (besides Cell C as theirs is fixed LTE) that gives more anytime GB's for R149pm?

Not currently. But there might be in 13 days
