MTN Black Friday Discussions

Anyone here upgraded their 2016 bf special to the 60+60GB for 299?
What does your contract show as?
I did but it shows as MTNChoice 10?
 
Called them for a communication company they are absolutely useless, got passed from department to department and not one idiot knew what was happening

Exactly, I have the 500. But we should be allocated 500 + 150 (TOTAL 650). I don't see the 150 mentioned at all, not even on the invoice.

The 230 I have I suspect is leftover from my old contract.

Yip the balance of that airtime is from the old contract carried over.

Try calling them with your reference when you signed up at retentions. I do remember them saying 650 minutes at the time but the lady was not sure if it was all net or with mtn to mtn as well included.

This is definitely not what I understood when signing up. I have the registration call recorded so will play through it later to make sure that I heard the correct explanation.
 
I seem to have got a different package....
20gb data, 200 on net minutes, 100 of net minutes, 1k sms for 199.
Didn't get the mail, still waiting for a clean debit order to run but seems like a win. Using data sharing as well

Did you manage to replay the recording. I foolishly forgot to record the call but I know that I agreed to 60gb+60gb for 24months when I renewed my contract.

Out of curiosity I have just reread the 2 sms's that were sent:

Y'ello! Your 50GB promo deal is expiring. MTN has a special Sim Only offer just for you #wegotu. Upgrade to a My MTNChoice 30GB plan with an added promotional 60GB Anytime data + 60GB Night Express data per month valid for 24 months. Was R 699 Now R 299. Visit any MTN store or call 0831233667 to upgrade. T's & C's apply.

This is what I what I agreed to have signed up for when I phoned them, but the second sms:

Y'ello! We apologise for the lack of clarity on the previous SMS regarding your upgrade offer. You get 30GB Anytime + 30GB Night Express plus promotional (30GB Anytime + 30GB Night Express) with MTN valid for 24 months which was R 699 now R 299 . T&C's apply.

Seems to imply that I have signed up for 30GB day 30GB night per month and a "once off 30GB day 30GB night valid for 24 months".

Still not to sure though as this is the first month and I received close to 200GB (day, night and promotional) of which I have already used about 35Gb from the promo data.

If I have indeed signed for the lesser 30day/30night package, when is latest one cancel from date of renewal without penalty?

I hope so. Should have been the first thing I did after renewing with all the uncertainty that was surrounding their specialised offerings. Thanks

From that second SMS, I still understand that we should receive 60GB Day & 60GB Night per month. My subscription renews on the 12th, so I guess we will have to wait until then to see.
 
A little off topic, but chewing through the current data allowance at the beach house with all the family connected to the router for wifi.

What is the cheapest MTN data bundle with best bang for buck? I found 5gb for R199 valid 7 days which seems to be the cheapest and even cheaper than Afrihost's per GB rates. Going to need another 10 to 20 gigs to get through to the end of the holidays here...
