MTN Black Friday Discussions

And lose your discounted subs, meaning a higher debit order until you cancel or upgrade
depends on your package...i didnt have any promo data...so package remained the same...just went month to month...they are however very eager to 'upgrade' me but I'm waiting for a nice deal...not sure why they only want to offer decent deals around black friday...

My one sim had a monthly discount of R900 which I was nervous about for when this upgrade time arrived...

But somewhere along the line, the premium for the package I am on became much lower and the discount is now only R250pm, so if they do hit me with 1x undiscounted month while I upgrade, it won't be as painful as I originally was worried about.

MTN Retentions refuse to offer me a month-to-month to replace the Black Friday 100GB month-to-month deal. Anyone had any luck?

isn't a sim only deal by nature a month to month? when you cancel you pay one month and your done with it?

Yeah, they're not allowing an upgrade. Their line is that 'we can only convert you to a 24/36 month contract, not to another month-to-month'. I'll likely have to take out one of their data-only sim contracts
that's unusual since they been adding minutes and sms to the sim only data BF deals the last few years...but 24/36 contracts are standard...

If you carry your contract over to month to month, any promotion data / airtime etc will be removed, and any discount on the package will be removed, thus you will pay full price for the package and not received any promotional extras

Anyone have any idea how long the data on these bundles would be valid for?
I'm thinking to cancel my laaties Black Friday deal, just get him a simcard and then load data bundles as required. R199 for 80GB seems decent.

Probably 30 days max and that bundle is only for gaming.

Domain or IP restrictions, it’s not hard.
Just don't understand the motivation for the restrictions. So one will have to buy different bundles for different uses, just stupid. If your customer buys the data, let them use it as they see fit.

Could be brand deals they make with the service the data is restricted to or the service itself sponsors a portion of the data costs to boost useage, I dont know why exactly but they offer it so someone must be buying it.

Does anyone know why networks would want to offer these platform restricted data bundles and why they would be cheaper than free use data?
