MTN Black Friday Discussions

I'm now already on Mobile Internet Ruby 70GB month-to-month, wonder if I can still get the 200GB contract version. Will try tomorrow...

Tried online, can't upgrade until January. So will have to add another contract, then cancel the month to month it seems. Which means paying R299x2 per month for 2 months.

On the Ruby 200GB @ R299 I assume the extra 130GB is not shareable because it's promo data.
Who knows, this is so far the best deal for my needs. Maybe Vodacom might still drop a mobile data sim only special that's worth considering.
But Ja, the 18 months is just weird.

Vodacom is killing it with the deals lately,

MTN has dropped the ball on Black Friday this year of this is all they are offering.

I guess it depends what you are looking for. So far Vodacom only has "Home internet" deals (of which some is great), but no mobile data deals (yet). At least MTN has a mobile data deal on the table.

What's likely to happen at the end of the 18 months?

Guys just check plan expiry date on your app. I usually get credited on the 17th of every month but the app says my current plan expires on the 25th. So don't rush. Wait for the BF deals to be fully advertised

MTN's site, also rubbish, as usual.
I cannot view all the deals (using Chrome). If I drag the specials from right to left to view the rest of them, after releasing the mouse it just jumps back.

I called 135 (Option 4, then Option 2) at 8am and was told that the BF deals only start on Monday.

That said, I asked what was currently on offer and was pleasantly surprised. Certainly presents as a BF deal.

“MyMTN Choice 8GB”

14GB daytime
14GB nighttime
500 minutes any network
Works with DataShare
30 days rollover on data
60 days rollover on minutes
24 month SIM only contract
Deal ID: “2023054 CT 09435 DG”

R106.00 x 24

This is perfect for a phone user.

My previous BF deal was 550 Minutes, 50 SMS, 15.98GB Data for R99pm. My minutes always rolled over and sat capped at 1,600 unlike my wife who used hers up in 2-3 weeks.
