MTN buys controlling stake in Afrihost (official)

Article fail!
MTN only bought 50%, current shareholders has the remaining 50%.
So it is NOT a controlling stake!

50% plus 1 share. MTN do have controlling stake.

Well that explains a lot of why AH has gone so down hill lately.

Lol,

We're proud, delighted and honoured to let you know that we've agreed to join MTN. They are buying 50% +1 of Afrihost's shares and the current shareholders are retaining the remaining 50%.

Will see how this plays out before I make a decision.

50% + 1 share + 50% = 100%?

That does not make sense to me.... But I will except defeat! :crying:

Imagine there are a million shares.
500 001 shares = 50% + 1, 499 999 = 50% -1... but both are 50%, because no-one is going to write 49.99999%

Mobile operator MTN is acquiring a controlling 50% stake in Internet service provider Afrihost for an undisclosed sum.

In an e-mail to Afrihost clients on Monday, the service provider’s CEO, Gian Visser, says MTN is buying 50% plus one Afrihost share. The existing shareholders, including management, will retain the remaining 50% of the company.
