MTN chows my airtime not data

would check that you have not inadvertently subscribed to a monthly WASP service, as they will deduct from your airtime and not your data bundle

last time i checked mtn had operamin, facebook etc bundles.

so if you purchase a operamin bundle, you can only surf internet through operamini, if you use your phone internet browser they charge you.

don't know whether its still like that.

I have the exact problem with my iPhone. I am thinking of taking this to the CPA. It is a new contract and they are already charging the poo out of me...

I have data bundles loaded yet mtn is deducting my airtime then what's the whole point of data bundles

did you use mtn loyalty points to load your data bundles? They normally chow airtime first then data when airtime is finished if you loaded the data bundle with loyalty points.

You sure?
I load Data bundles using Loyality quite often and my usage gets deducted from the data first.

i'm quite sure it always happened to me. Everytime i used mtn points for data, my airtime was always chowed first before data could.

then you better complain as that defeats the purpose of loading data - MTN's billing mess ups never surprises me

No need to complain as i'm leaving mtn for cell c very soon, the cheapest internet over there. 100mb for R15 on cell c vs 75mb for R49 on mtn? hmm... Not a difficult dicision to make.

bump!

I have exactly the same problem. I load prepaid airtime and a 'bolt on' data bundle. But all interwebs activity simply depletes my Rand value airtime. Tried the call center (173) which just depleted my patience.

I get the feeling they're doing this on purpose -_-

Any advice?

Hope the MTN rep here on MYBB sees this or you can post on Hello peter , but in all honesty I have my doubts you will get any resolution, theres no customer service at MTN!

Thanks for the reply. I recharged my patience and tried the call center again. After some lengthy holding on while they investigated (or something) the response I received was to call back a bit later as their system wasn't showing the recent session usage so they couldn't query it for me. Meh...

However... the call center assistant did mention that sometimes what happens is you may open multiple data sessions and then your Rand value airtime gets used as the newer data sessions don't register against the data bundle as it's in use (or something along those lines). The prepaid & data bundle concept is new to me (after many years as a contract customer) but if that's how MTN's prepaid data usage works then it's rather worrying.

p.s. I initially did send the MyBB MTN rep a PM but they haven't been online since the 4th (iirc) - so let's see how that goes then.

That makes absolutely no sence whats so ever! and I highly doubt that is corect and I agree if thats true it is worying considering on prety much all smartphones you always have multiple data sesions running!
My best guess is you called and call centre agent though crap this query is not on the script - let me say something that sounds clever!

Yeah also thought it sounded like BS and that's definitely not something MTN would want their customers to know if it was true. I received a response from the MyBB MTN rep and I explained my 'problem' in more detail so hopefully something gets sorted soon. If not... there will be blood lol.

Ye'llo MartMartys,

Thank you for contacting me with your problem, I have sent a private message with all the details. Thank you once again.

I think that is BS.

I have a small data cap (more as a back up) on a sim. Often I have multiple pages open be it on 3G or ADSL. Not once have I been charged extra for multiple pages...
