I'm using Windows 7 Pro and have a Huawei usb modem.
When one successfully connects using the MTN Control Software and then switch to another User, the software does not show the connection (actually shows as disconnected). However, browsing and email facilities are fully functional!

Reason is that MTN dashboard is not running as a system service, it runs in user space as a normal application. When you switch user, you launch another instance, but control over device is taken already by the first one.
Why you still have network connection? This is because the first instance of the dashboard has activated system services which continue run in background.

Thanks for the explanation as to why it occurs sajunky.
Perhaps if any MTN dashboard designers are reading they may organise it so that the current dashboard is always rendered?

There is no MTN rep on the forum. Besides I doubt they would do so. They use slightly modified version of dashboards supplied by modem manufacturers.

Edit: What happen if you exit from the dashboard (while keeping connection) before switching user? I don't know whether MTN dashboard allows do that, but with MDMA you could. Then re-opening dashboard as a different user would allow full control over device.
