Ok, so I have the MTN Uncapped Lite package and it's been working great for the last month but 2 days ago I was greeted with "Connection Terminated" every time I click connect. Since then I have been unable to connect at all. I have literally done everything I can think of to resolve this issue, cleaned the registry, uninstalled and re-installed the program like 4 times, did a windows update, system restore to a week ago, played with the Network settings on the programs, virus scans etc. Nothing.

Now I'm not THAT tech savvy, but by my thinking is that there's something on the PC that's conflicting with the program, which is actually odd as I did a hard drive format like 3 weeks ago, so there's not a lot of stuff installed on the PC. I tried phoning MTN but the phone just rings on for eternity, besides I doubt they would even be able to help me. So do you guys maybe have an idea as to what might be causing this? Any help will be appreciated :)

We were also were offline since Friday - Yesterday we were online for about 2 hours, then nothing again - can see that it tries to connect, then dies out. Online now again...

Also tried calling MTN...they were useless.

Did you get "Connection Terminated" or did it simply struggle to connect to the internet? It gets quite frustrating eh? :)

Can't remember the exact error I was getting - we use the Sh@relink router (sounds like you use USB modem?)

What was happening is that it would try to connect - then make a solid connection (HSPA+) then a second later just disconnect. but no pings etc were going through, even in the brief moment that it showed as "connected".

It is damn frustrating, still up at 11pm on a Sunday working because I couldn't get some things done, as a result of the connection :(

I was wondering though if MTN wasn't maybe affected as well by this weekends outage?

How's your signal though? In your area. It sounds like a bit of a signal issue? Or it could actually be on their side. The best advice I can give is to go see them in store bud.

That's what I did today and finally figured out what was happening with my account. They actually barred my account because they screwed up my credit! They didn't even notify me, so yeah. I'm not gonna get into details, but my issue is related to my account. They fixed the credit issue they stuffed up and my internet is on again, it's just gonna take 2 - 24hrs to 'activate' or whatever :)

Strangely enough that was my problem too haha...

I wasn't able to go into a store, but called the 808 help desk and chatted (and by chatted I mean violently cursed) with a lady there. After being transferred a few times, I eventually got helped by someone that actually listens (and understands basic english) and doesn't just read off a script - got it sorted.

Also a credit issue on my side, they "lost" my May payment, so effectively I went over my credit limit - which caused the 3g contract to die (for some reason our phone contracts were still fine though...)

Anyway, they magically found the payment, allocated it and about 3 hours later we were back online.

Definitely letting these contracts expire though come renewal, after this issue (and various other issues) I have had enough of MTN. Will try my luck at Voda or something.... :erm:

Try closing whatever modem dashboard you are using and start up MDMA. This will enable you to easily set the SIM into 3G or GPRS only so you can see if maybe your problem is that it tries to connect at 3G but due to poor signal it drops out straight away.

It will also show what Tower ID it is picking up and shows signal strength etc.
