Been struggling with these guys since March to cancel 2 data contracts (Contract period ended start of march). Have a ton of references. Cancelled both via phone and in store - no joy.
Don't really have a ton of spare time to chase this stuff up which is why this is so frustrating. Also have no MTN number to phone from to get to the call center anymore.

Anyone have any contacts on where to take this further? Is there an MTN rep on the forums that can assist?

Yeah its a pain. I'd recommend going to an MTN shop with a book to read and a burger & not leaving until its done. Thats what I did - took a couple hours but worked. Alternatively:

Going to have to do something like that - just don't have time for that nonsense :/

Trying Twitter as a last resort - then I'll have to do the store thing I suppose.
Will probably have to ICASA to get any money back.

The Cancellation procedure has changed in the past few months, gone are the days were you could call 808 and ask to be transferred to Retention's were they would process your cancellation or migration to prepaid. Now you have to go into a store were they will log a USD were that can take up to 72hrs...

My dad is on month 4 with zero luck as he is also too busy to constantly deal with them.

It took me 2 months but I have more time and could get on them twice a day till someone did something useful.

Good luck!

Tweeted them and actually got a response the next day. Will update in the thread with any progress.

Good grief. You poor guys. With us if the contract is done you go into a store and ask to be migrated to prepaid, they do it right there, print a quote, you sign. BOOM. Done. Or if the contract is not finished, you phone retentions and they send you the quote with the discount that you get as a individual contract holder, you pay the fee. Done.

Heh. My contract period ended in July and I'm also still battling to get it canceled. Know that feels.

How? Just call 808 and ask them to cancel it. Or email them, or send them a Facebook message.

Went into the shop twice and after they called me multiple times to offer me an upgrade where I kept telling them to cancel the damn contract. Aggravating to say the least.

These people are beyond incompetent. The only way I've been able to get anywhere is via Twitter.
And even now I have someone from Retentions (who seems to be struggling to read English) continuously nagging me if there is anything they can do to retain my patronage.

The only provider worse than this I've had the displeasure of dealing with would be Telkom - where any and all queries simply fall into a black hole.
