Noticed sharp differences on Anytime and Topup Contracts.
ie. R259 per month for a Droid, TV, R200/m, 200MB/s, 200 sms/30min MTN to MTN versus
R319 per month for R200/m and 10MB/m on Topup. The structuring and costing worries me.

Naturally I took the former as the website states there is a call limit service.

I checked my balance on activation and noted that a voice prompt spoke of this.

I called 808 and spoke to someone called Milletant, and she said she cant set a call limit.

I tried using *141# and noted that the USSD no longer puts all your balances as it does when you on top up,...only data balance... Why?

You have to make a long winded voicecall for that information.

I have to ask the question, is MTN making it difficult to manage costs so the probability to incure an unpleasant surprise is much greater.

I already see that unlike other networks, "Anytime" cannot be used to buy bundles.

I advise upgraders and new contract possibles to check the real cost not the advertised cost.

Any suggestions on tools that can be used to manage cost.....

Historically limits worked for me with MTN and USSD on Anytime worked. Why no more.

"200MB/s, 200 sms/30min MTN to MTN versus" should read "200MB/m, 200 sms/m, 30min MTN to MTN/m versus"

I don't think the bill limit options exist any more, they were too tricky to maintain. If you want control of your account I would suggest a topup.
I cant tell you how many times I used to take calls regarding how the bill limit didn't kick in, good grief, I'm so glad I left the call centre.

I'm going the Afrihost APN on my MTN cell route. No OOB shark & better prices.
Win-win for me (+win for AH)
