Hi guys.

Hope someone here can help.

I have had my MTN account for probably about 10 years or so. I have never had any issues up to about a month ago.
One of the numbers on my account was due for an upgrade, which I did as per usual.

Two weeks later the cr@p starts.

I keep getting sms's telling me I am over my credit limit and my service has been suspended.
What Fcking credit limit????

And every time I try t phone in to find out, if the phone gets answered after 20 minutes, I get some trainee that tells me that is how it is and puts the phone down.

I would really like to get this sorted out in a civil manner, I am on the verge of becoming a very difficult customer.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you Knights of the keyboard and team.

Probably some of the fastest, most efficient service I have ever had. You guys are a shining example of what customer service is supposed to be.

Thank you.

No problem sir

I am here on the website once a week so please if any further issues please contact me l will try be on more often to help out but me and my team are from a store level if we are busy we will battle to have a look at the website.

Kind Regards,

So what was the issue, did they give you a low credit limit or something?

Apparently some new credit limit restrictions they have been forced to apply by legislation.
Because of this and the way my bill run happens, I now go over this amount and get these messages.

I have the exact same problem now. Problem started when I upgraded my contract. Never knew I even had a credit limit or what the amount was set to. Now my account keep on getting suspended. Went in stores they told me that I must phone 808, as they are the only people that can upgrade my credit limit. I have phoned more than 5 times trying to solve the problem. Sometimes the people on the other end of the line just hangs up the phone. I have sent emails and I really dont know what to do more from my side, but it really is annoying that my account gets suspended on the most inconvenient times......Any help/advice??

I got mine moved without problems - via 808. Was a while back though. Think its set at 2 or 3 times the contract value...so usually round the 1.5k mark.

Thread necromancy....
The credit limit is allocated in accordance with affordability when they vett you for a contract. The contract has to generally be administered with successful payments for 4 months before the credit limit may be lifted, send me your number though, i'll see what we can do.

Hi Voldemort

I am hoping you can help me as well. Been with MTN over 11 years on contract and my account is between R1300 and R2500 per month. Never knew I had a limit when I started working in a different country 2 weeks ago.

So my meager R2000 limit kicked in and I am left not being able to call home or any of my family. Spend Sunday afternoon on the phone after my brother conferenced me in (808 does not work for free customer service in this country)..

The lady helping me assisted me and, after verifying all the security questions, put in a request to increase my limit and that it will take 24 hours.. However it still is not working and just showing me that outgoing calls are barred. Yesterday my brother called again to try and get me connected but MTN says it cannot be done and they also do not find the reference the lady gave on the system..

I am really frustrated at the moment..

Please assist

Popped you a PM for your number, let's take a look.

Hi Hermit,

We have checked your number and all your services are currently active. You should not experience any issues abroad. Also, we have refreshed your services on the network please reboot your device and test. Advise on the outcome.
