I am only connecting @ GPRS speeds. What could be wrong?
 
Wot device are you using to conenct? Is it a GPRS only or have you a 3G card? If it is a card , change your profile to 3G only and see if you get signal. if no tthen no 3G in your area..

Just wanted to let you guys know MTN did have some problems yesterday afternoon with Telkom T1 links it has been sorted out.

Edenglen Tower

I got the Mtn 3g card. My tower only shows MTNSA 2g and Vodacom 3g. I assume that I can only get GPRS and Edge then.I connect at Edge speeds but download at GPRs speeds. Even though on the mtn coverage it shows that I should have 3G. I am a bit disappointed that I can’t get 3G after buying the card.

What are you using to test the speeds?

I am using Fastlink software,Netmeter and Netmonitor.
Fastlink shows 53.7kbpstop , netmeter & netmonitor shows 66.2Kb/s
The MTN tower also shows GPRS/EDGE

Could you please try net per sec or one of the online broadband online tests and advise if there's any difference

My Edge is up and running. good! Only thing is that on the mtn website it shows full 3G coverage in the hole of my area. What could be the problem?

If it shows 3G then I would log a call with our coverage department
