Mtn Data

hey mtn dd...

yeah the antenna would be cool.
has anyone got an E620 to work with a PC?
i just bought myself a PCI-to-PC card adapter and an E620, followed all the instructions, and when i open up the fastlink windows terminal thing it says "data card invalid"...

Nope IPsec has nothing to do with it i just want people to be able to connect to some of my ports.

i just found a nice long manual heh, hopefully i can troubleshoot

Good day,

Have you checked under device manager to see if the driver's have installed correctly?

Hi JazzeD

As much as we would like to help you, it is a security risk to our other subscribers if we open up all or any port towards the handset pools.

All connections must be originated from the handset.

If you have such requirements I can refer you to our resale business unit they are one of our ISP /WDP partners who will gladly oblige with a test APN and environment to complete your trials.

Thanks MTN DD

Good Day,

In relation to any queries I'll sometimes ask you to PM me, if you do PM me, can I please ask that you please include as much detail as possible?

Including:

1) Your first name
2) Your last name
3) Contact tel. number
4) E-mail addr.
4) Area you're in
5) Physical address, if relevant
6) Cell number under discussion
7) Full description of the problem
8) Anything else you can think of

What can I help with?

1) Typically anything to do with broadband and the services around it, such as the mail relays, etc.
2) MTN policies, viewpoints, etc.

What do I battle to help with?

1) Billing enquiries which I can forward onto MTNSP
2) Cell phones questions, etc.

1555 Is always the official point of contact for these types of queries, while I will always try my best to help at all times.

Thanks MTN DD

Hi

I need to know when MTN will be providing EDGE or 3G coverage in my area = Daintree Avenue, Sydenham, durban.

My office is across the road and we dont have coverage there too!

Looks like V3G has been cloned! (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=44657)

Not that I'm complaining...

Totally my fault... I suggested MTN_Data_Dude use V3G's post as a template to give everyone some scope on where he can help out.

I believe he's involved with MTNSP (or at least was April last year) but very much on the data side (also seems to interact with MTN itself), he's a seriously helpful dude. He was the one guy that took an interest my data prob. that I was having and resolved it while keeping me updated the whole while.

Good day,

I've actually moved over to MTN, as a Data profile manager, used to be involved with MTNSP, if there are MTNSP related queries I can pass them onto some of my colleagues that side which are highly capable to assist.

@Damian24 Thanks allot for the vote of confidence and complement, I'll defiantly continue trying to help the best I can.

Thanks allot

Nice to thread you, bad joke I know!!! Does MTN make use of data accelerators to speed up GPRS, if not do they have any intention of doing so! Also are they ever going to lower the GPRS tarriffs?
Wishful Thinking I suppose, but am still 3G impered.

For interesting reading::) http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2118745/mobile-operators-eye-gprs-accelerators:)

Nice to thread you too :-)

MTN do not make use of any data accelerators at the moment, but we are looking into some, I'll advise on that ASAP

As for the lower GPRS tariff’s, unfortunately I have no information on that at this stage, but will keep you guys updated.

Thanks

i would like to connect to our corporate APN (managed by MTNNS) over GPRS from Namibia. Is this possible and what are the charges.

btw, I think it is great that there is someone from MTN to assist on the forums.

Good day,

andres101

It is possible if your logging onto (MTC Namibia), as we do have a GPRS roaming agreement with (MTC Namibia).

Settings and dial string stay exactly the same as if you are in SA.

Good day,

Abuusamah

Sorry for the delay

Edge and 3G coverage are linked to Data Hot spots and Data Usage,

These nodes are being worked on but I can't give you a turnaround time at this stage but will advise when new information is made available to me.

Thanks MTN DD
