I stay in a small town and there is only one cell phone shop. That’s why I decided to use MTN Direct. It should be easy “SO I THOUGHT” . Just a phone call to them and they send you a phone, but its not that easy and simple, and it will cost more than what you think on phone call to them. It’s cheaper to get into your car and to go to a cell shop.
On the 18th February I phoned MTN Direct and they gave me a good deal on a Sony Ericsson C902. The next morning I faxed them all my information plus information with all my details to send to the delivery address. It was approved within hours. That is where there good service stopped. The one that helped me told me I will have my phone in 3 to 4 days.
I waited a week and no phone. I phoned them to find out what is happening but my phone was not sent yet but they told me they will send it that same day.
It took them 3 week to get the phone to me. In that time I had to phone them continuously to find out what is happening . They tell you they will get back to you, but then you end up waiting and waiting for no reply, then I must phone again. When you leave messages they don’t get back to you. My opinion, it does not look like they know what they are doing…
I got tired of the lack of service or thereof, and I asked for there Manager (Yvonne Bell), so instead of the Manager doing her job she gets other staff to do her job or should I say again lack of. Then they contact you for that day, still with no results. Then they give you a date on which the phone will arrive and you still don’t get it. There is always some excuse. Either they behind with the order, phone got stolen, computers down, sent to wrong address or some other story. Even with the Manager it took long to get the phone.
I don’t even know how many people I ended up talking too. Most off them can’t even give you answers or help you. I think they are not trained well to do the job. It took them more than 2 weeks to get my delivery address right, after I faxed it to them in the beginning. They had it in black and white and they still messed up. They blame the courier company and they blame MTN Direct.
When I got my phone there was a charge off R609 on it for the phone and sim card. Which bare in mind should be free. I phoned the Manager and she told me it’s a problem with the computer and they will sort it out and credit me. I will see when I get my account if its been sorted out.
Then this guy (Johan) phoned me to activate my phone and to port my no. from Vodacom to MTN. He told me it will take 24-48 hours then my phone will be ready to use. He also told me, if there is any problems I must phone him on his cell. It’s now a week later and my phone is not activated yet and I cant get hold off him. He doesn’t answer his cell. He also doesn’t answer you on messages left. The Manager is the same.
The my other complaint is all the phone calls that a person must make to them. They only got 083 no. to phone and it cost a lot of money. If they did there work right my phone bill would be about R30. My house phone bill is R307 and I am still waiting for the bill from my work. It will also be very high R200 to R300. That means it cost R500 between R600 on calls alone to MTN Direct and it still going up because my phone is still not activated. Who is going to pay for it all. Its because of there lack of service that I sit with such huge telephone bills, and it is not “ON”.
The no. I phoned is 0831233667 to apply and to find out what is happening. Later they gave me 0831239622 to phone to find out about the delivery. When you phone that no. you stay on line for more than 40 minutes with no answer, just the same announcement over and over.
With MNT Direct you ask yourself what’s next? What will go wrong next? What mishaps are next???
This is in short some off the problems I had and still have with them up to date. There is much more and I am still waiting for them to activate my phone. My opinion once again, MTN Direct is very unprofessional and there people are not trained in doing there job at hand.
There is always problems with them. Rather go to a cell phone shop and apply there for your phone. You will save money and the service will be much better and its face to face.
MTN Direct should close there business or they must get qualified and trained people to help them and sort out there problems. They should also get a toll free line or a share call line. Customers can’t pay for there mistakes.
