Hi Guys,

I have the MTN E220 3G modem. I am going overseas on holiday and was wondering i could use this modem overseas? I will of course buy a sim card over there and use that. Instead of using the mtn dashboard i will use the MDMA application.

Should this work then?

Thanks
Byron

I've used several modems overseas without any difficulty, including the E220 -- through for me the Vodafone Mobile Connect software works better than any other, even on a generic MTN E220 (which I have). Alternatively if you want more functionality than the MDMA dashboard you could download the generic Huawei software, which also works fine.

The MTN supplied E220 is not SIM or Network locked. You will need to create a new profile with the correct connection/APN settings for the foreign network.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Would the best mobile network operator for the USA be Vodafone? If i phone vodacom would they be able to give me the vodafones connection/APN settings for my 3G card?

Probably better to go on T-Mobile - check their website for settings as I'm not sure what they are.

I contacted T-Mobile support (Live Chat) and they informed me that there sim cards will not work in any other data cards except for there own, Which sucks.
So i guess i will go with Vodafone then.
