MTN E270 connection error

Can someone please help, I'm desperate!!!

I have the E270 Fastlink USB modem. Currently trying to use it on my laptop which is running Vista Ultimate. I cannot connect and keep on getting the same error message: Error 720: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. You might need to change the network settings for this connection.

I have been on the phone to MTN for hours on end and they can not seem to help me solve the problem. They seem to think it might be a problem with my computer. Does someone maybe have an alternative solution or can someone maybe give me some help on troubleshooting the problem?
 
Have you tried the E270 in another machine? If it works there your machine is the problem.
 
They tested the modem at the mtn store and said that it was working, however I did not have my computer there for them to troubleshoot...

If the problem is with my computer - should I format the hard drive or what?
 
If MTN are willing to work on your machine it would make the most sense to take the machine with the modem to them.
