Anyone tried loading the F@stLink E620 Data Card Software on Windows Vista (Beta 2) ? I'm trying out Vista to determine it's level of compatability with the applications I have. And surprise, surprise most applications work just fine except the MTN application. Seems to need some new drivers for the Data Card, and since the update is only available once you get online for the first time it's a bit pointless when you need the update to get on for the first time. DOH! Anyone know where I can get a Vista update for the E620 Driver? MTN has no user forum or technical support on its site (South African Companies seem to think that the internet is only useful for additional marketing, and very little function with customer support except a phone number) I've also tried the manufacturers of the card Huawei and their technical support doesn't include driver updates.
Any help would be greatful.

Vista is still a beta - hence support for the Huawei E620 on Vista would be non-existent.
Drivers for the device are written by the manufacturer (which does undergo Windows testing - you would know that most manufacturers dont do this) You will ned to wait for the official launch of Vista for support.

Hi Sweitzer,

When you install the E630 software,

Does it allow you to put in your pin and then connects to MTN, once you've done that there are two boxes that pop up your watcher and another box asking for a server update, on the main watcher using the standard dial-up when you click connect it should connect you once that has happened on the other box you can click next and it will go next,

Let me know

Thanks MTN DD

Again, Vista is still a beta. Not even MS provides support for Vista (read MS Vista beta eula)

We all know Vista is still beta. But the reason beta software is released is to give developers an opportunity to get their products compatible before the launch data. And to give IT departmetns chance to learn the new software before it starts showing up on end-users' desks.

Many compaines are already writing drivers for Vista to support their hardware. ATI, nVidia, HP, etc.

It is a perfectly reasonable request to ask if either Huawei or MTN have access to updated drivers or a workaround to get their products working in te beta.

Why not offer some constructuve advice on solving the problem rather than pointing out the obvious?

I too would like to get a Huawei E620 card working under Vista so that I can test on our mobile platform. If anyone has got their 3G card to work, please let us know.

Good evening,

What I'll do is bring it up with Huawei as soon as we meet with them and advise you........

You might want to ensure that this is live before next year Feb, when Vista is officially launched.

Another issue, sorry MTN, in my wisdom I lost my E620 Driver CD while moving house, and have since gotten a new laptop. No driver download on the mtn or huawei web sites ... anyone know where I can get E620 Drivers for XP?

I've checked on Huawei mobile site and there appears to be a newer driver 1.11.15 (in use by Telia), perhaps that will work?

http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/doc/list.do?type=-1&id=305

I have downloaded and there are still only Windows 2000 and Windows XP drivers. The driver files themselves are dated July 2005 (same as MTN's version), so I suspect only the application has changed.

Congrats on finding that link BTW, I searched all over their site looking for an update but found nothing!

Something else on the site...

Good day,

Can I ask do you install the software before you put in the data card?

And when you put the data card in did it install the windows drivers?

Also can I ask once you put in the data card does it initialize and the say USIM ready then ask you for your pin code and then finally does it logon to the network?

Please advise ASAP

Thanks MTNDD

Vista, MTN F@stLink(HUAWEI E620) and HP/Compaq notebook blue screen of death.

I have find the problem with the F@stlink 3g/hspda blue screen of death issue on Vista on HP/Compaq notebooks.

Don’t do the Ultimate extra update called “Gemplus – Smartcardreader – Texas Instruments PCI GemCore based Smartcard controller”, It is for the device called PCI Simple Communications Controller. You must also disable User account control for the data card application to function correctly.

I guess you can just uninstall the device if you already installed the driver

Vista Final - Anyone got the E620 working yet?

Hi,

Anyone got the E620 card working on Vista final? Mine traps when inserting the card - looks like it tries to load some or other driver then falls over.

Anyone got a link to drivers that may work?

Thanks
