MTN E620 Data Card with Windows Vista Issue

Hi,
Installed the software first.

Inserted the card, Vista acknowledges the card by saying its detected some new hardware.

Looks like it identifies a driver to install (Without my intervention) ... then Blue screen of death :(

Hi,

Anyone got the E620 card working on Vista final? Mine traps when inserting the card - looks like it tries to load some or other driver then falls over.

Anyone got a link to drivers that may work?

Thanks

Guys I've got some test drivers from Huawei for Windows Vista but would like to test it before letting you guys try it out

Will let you know ASAP

Hi,

I have HP nc8430, Vista Ultimate RTM and no joy with my Huawei e620 card. Have tried most of the solutions posted in this thread, and some others on the web.

@ MTN_Data_Dude - do you know where we can find these test drivers? I am getting a bit weary of the old Blue Screen here :)

Does anyone have any idea how to make it work?

@prieurdp

Huawei and Microsoft will release the final drivers ASAP

I've been instructed not to release the test drivers as there are still a lot of problems e.g. the blue screen of death on HP my device manager has the same problem on his HP with these test drivers

Will advise once there's a finalized version of this software.

Thanks MTNDD

I'm getting annoyed with the way Huawei treat their customers, what is wrong with releasing the test drivers with a warning that there may still be problems? They may work for some people and they may not for others, but at least those that they do work for have a temporary solution.

I'm happy to host it, as long as I don't get threatening calls from Huawei again.

Thanks MTNDD! You can all download it here:
http://www.nerve.org.za/graham/e620_driver_2.0.3.0.zip
Remember this is a beta driver, use at your own risk.

This is version 2.0.3.0, the version that comes with the MTN and Huawei software is 2.0.2.2.
This archive seems to contain a Windows 2000 and a Windows XP driver.

Update: I have discovered this is actually the standard E220 driver. It turns out the E620 is really a USB modem in a CardBus card with an NEC USB 2.0 controller built-in!
See this page at Electronic Products for a complete teardown analysis.

Driver of Winxp is 2.0.3.0X I manually updated my drivers thru Device Manager. I dont know if its the driver or the latest MTN software (12/15) but I no longer have standby and hibernation issues. Previously I had to remove and insert my card after hibernation.

That's brilliant news

Does anybody know the price of the F@stlink E220 USB Mini Modem? And is it available on pay-as-you-go?
