Mtn Edge Map

Anyone have any idea how to get info on a particular tower's planned upgrades?

My cellid is 32031 and only has gprs. I like to know when to expect at least gprs+ or preferably EDGE.

At the moment even Vodacom is giving me 8.7KB/s downloads ... so it's clear they have upgraded their towers around here (KZN Midlands).

Here's hoping MTN plans to remain the BETTER connection!

thanks guys (and girsl?)

Could you please tell me how to get the cellid for a tower?

3G? Ask your friendly mtnsp (assuming you can find one that knows anything)

I actually got a positive answer from the local MTNSP in our area. Without any smile or customer care of course, as usual.

3G is planned for my area. Due by end 2005. Yay!!! Finally, they realised the necessity.

A bit slow, though, as Vodacom had 3G here in January already. Almost a years' pause.

B.T.W. is their anything like a technical or data related help desk with mtnsp or mtn in general. MTNSP'S call centre is only being answered by complete idiots, most likely recruited from some sort of govermental department. Probably Home affairs or the Licensing bureau!

I am trying to see Stellenbosch but the map's resolution is just not good enough.

here is a screen cap of the pdf (stellenbosch area).

Thats the best resolution available in the PDF. My PDF is dated 7 July 2005, so it may be out of date.

Supposedly the brown is Edge, but in my area, I'm in the brown, and only get GPRS, no Edge... Maybe it is better for your area.

Cheers

Hi guyz... im new ere... just wanted 2 know one thing about Edge, and if its compatible with the Sony Erricson K750i Cellphone, i actually want to use the phone to logon to MSN... think it uses MXIT if i'm not mistaken, and can anyone tell me if this service is free, because know a friend with a V3 on MTN pay-as-you-go who logs on regually for free, but i'm wanting to do the same, just with a contract.... will MTN charge me for this (MyCall 100)... Thanks

The K750i is not EDGE capable.

GPRS is adequate for instant messaging due to the low data rate. EDGE will not make a big difference.

Using MXit you will be charged for the GPRS data used which is minimal. At an out of bundle rate of R2.00 per MB you will probably spend about 2 cents per session.

See mxit.co.za
