MTN Edge Rollout Progress

Does anyone know who to contact at MTN about EDGE rollouts? All of my clients in one area is on MTN prepaid bundle packages. Vodacom do have EDGE available for the area, but unstable, and allso more support for me.

Well I hope that the map will hopefully give him an idea of where we have coverage and if the area that his in is covered or not if it isn't then I can give him a indication with the phase 2 roll out where roll out will be done

I can't release a full spec of where we planning on rolling out due to the information being confidential...... but if the area is given then then I can look at the roll out and indicate if it's being looked at or not.

I need to know If MTN is planning to do a EDGE rollout in the Following areas. Western Cape - Ceres, PA Hamlet, Wolseley, and Matroosberg.

Most of my clients are farmers, and permanent connected to the net via MTN gprs. In some areas MTN is still faster than Vodacom EDGE. I prefer MTN, cause no contract, and most of them use the R220-00 bundle.

It would be great if MTN can supply a map for the exact location for there towers. It would be nice when tuning a fixed antenna.

It shows my area completely bang in the middle of EDGE coverage... and yet there is no MTN EDGE coverage at my place :confused:

Only on Cell C or Virgin Mobile can I pick up an EDGE signal...

On a side note EDGE coverage from MTN would be pretty awesome and would probably tempt me to drop Virgin seeing as MTN (in my experience) tends to be the most stable connection... :cool:
At the moment VM wins in price and speed .. so I'm prepared to put up with the fact that it's not quite as stable as MTN... :D

I actually noticed a lot of guys working on the MTN tower near my house the last few weeks, I got kind of excited at first thinking they might be doing some upgrading (oh for 3G!) ... it turns out they were just repainting the darn tower :rolleyes:

VM with 50cents is such a sweet price, haven't checked there speed but I'm sure it can't be tooo bad if they using Cell C's network and Cell C's edge is pretty decent

Well, I emailed the "coveragecomplaints" address and was pleasently surprised that they responed within in a hour... even though I mailed them after hours.. :)
Will have to wait and see whether anything else comes of it though...
 
MTN mailed me the following...

Thank you for contacting ,based on forecasts which cannot be guaranteed the expected date for EGDE coverage integration in these areas is early next year.

Well MTN got back to me today on my query about EDGE...
So it seems like the map is not 100% accurate...

However to my surprise the guy informed me that the tower I mentioned (above somewhere) is in line for a 3G/HSDPA upgrade before april next year!!! :D This is WAY COOL news!! :D :D

I can't wait! :D
