Got told by the store person I would not be able to add an eSIM to my iPhone 13 due to system issues for the past three months, is this true?

Ag honestly in December 2020 it was just as difficult to get eSim activated on the 12.

Not because of any system or the phone issue but because most of their consultants are the most clueless and unhelpful bunch you will ever meet.

I see

Just import a dual SIM model from Hong Kong using borderlinx or any other shipping forwarder that has a warehouse in Hong Kong? Including shipping and customs it will probably be around the same price as the local single + esim device.

MTN are just a bunch of useless. There's nothing complicated about eSIMs, you can get them by far far smaller operators in other countries.

I think its because they're worried by leaving the primary sim slot open you can **Shock** **horror** insert another data sim in and they'll lose money. That's all they're about anyway. And I say that as an MTN user for 20 years.

What store in Hong Kong would sell it though? Also aren't they geo-locked for use in China only? If you're Apple ID is not based there will it still work?

Apple store. Unless you buy the phone through a network provider iPhones are unlocked.

Apple may cancel the order though if they pick up that you're shipping to freight forwarder.

You can also try noon in Dubai, few sellers there sell the dual SIM too.

If I have an existing MTN contract and want to add an esim to use on my Apple Watch - what is the process. The website is not specific on existing contracts and cannot get a clear answer from their contact centre.

Just spoke to the contact centre again who spoke to her supervisor - and now they are saying MTN esim cannot be used on an apple watch! Although several of their agents told me it does and sent me a qr code.
MTN is Useless

It will depend a lot on the person helping you.

I had multiple MTN employees tell me that eSIM is not compatible with mobile phones, until I found someone in a branch who had no problem sim-swapping my data-only sim to an eSIM. It shouldn't matter what phone you're using.
I just said I would like to do a SIM swap, onto an eSIM - that seemed to help them understand what needed to happen.

Fortunately I had Datashare enabled with a prepaid sim, since the confirmation email containing the QR code with eSIM setup didn't come through immediately. I had to phone them, luckily I got a very good consultant who helped me and the QR code arrived while I was still on the call with them!

*also only just noticed this thread is a week old, whoops
