MTN False Advertising

Good Day all,

Was hoping to get some good advice if possible.

MTN advertised a deal for a Samsung S21FE with a Free Samsung Tablet a7 on their website for R519.

I've gotten a "Soft Reservation for Order" confirmation on the 16 of March. However, on the date of delivery which was the 25th of March 2022 upon receiving the package, I realized I only received the phone and called customer care. I was directed to call Mondo. Mondo told me to claim the device on the Samsung account under benefits.

Got home and tried to do this and logged a complaint with Samsung which then told us this deal already passed and can no longer be claimed.

After numerous battles with MTN and not Treating customers fairly from their end I keep on getting people not able to help and telling us not this deal has already expired. How come did they then still give this to me within March if this deal was ended at the end of February?

Yeah these cnts did the same with me when i upgraded and didnt get the buds. You will get nowhere

Take a look at the terms and conditions (if this is the promotion you are talking about).

Yeah these cnts did the same with me when i upgraded and didnt get the buds. You will get nowhere
If this is the S22 offer, I believe it can be redeemed via the Samsung members app

Hi, Yes The deal was the one you linked. Only I did not know this promotion was from Samsung themselves. MTN still showed this on their web on the 16th I've applied for my device upgrade and now they telling me the promotion ended and no one is taking accountability for this. They want me to submit screenshot and stuff on this and I know they can track this from their dev or it team, yet they refuse to help.
 
Going from the multitude of disgruntled community member posts on the Samsung Members app, I'd say that the S21 FE + A7 tablet campaign was a giant clusterfukk. Seems even if you did manage to submit your claim in time you had a slim chance of ever actually getting the tablet due to inefficiencies either on Samsung's side or its partners, but its disappointing I'm sure for a bunch of people who went with that deal hoping to get a free tablet. I'd have been pissed if it happened with the buds campaign too.

Agree, was a big mess MTN blames mondo and just keeps saying the deal expired and Mondo blames MTN for trying to get them to resolve the matter. Samsung just says it's out of their hands.

Just so tired of this bs from this and they always get away with stuff like this.
 
think you have 14 days to return / cancel the deal.

Just cancel it and move on. Maybe when they see you willing to cancel they will try solve it.
 
Cancel it and move to Telkom. They basically roam on MTN as well and is much cheaper.
 
Still having issues with them, I cannot even call them on 135 as they've decided to block me even though they receive their money.

Canceled via their online recommendations where you submit to the retentions email address and funny enough in this email they confirm the case and that they will get back to you, but way below in the same email they state you cannot make use of this service to cancel the contract and that you have to phone 135 which they do not allow me to do at the moment.

Even on their social media platforms they promise to get back to you and I really cannot take off from work to fight with them, might not have a choice anymore and have to go and make a scene at the stores.
 
So after many threats, complaints and tweets MTN has decided to reimburse me for the tablet I've never to received and add this to the contract invoice.

Just so sad that had to fight so much. In the end it got somewhat sorted, but the trust relationhip as been broken and do not see myself dealing with MTN going forward. My contract is due in July so will be moving over to Telkom solong on that and my wife's will remain for now.
 
MTN do this a lot actually... I just stopped to deal with them they tend to push stuff they don't have to get sales and then claim ignorance.
