MTN fixed LTE

Yes it's quite a nice feature. You can get a prepaid simcard and signup for Air Mobile prepaid and transfer data from the uncapped sim to this service and still claim 1GB each month.
So I can test drive your network on my MTN prepaid sim?

Yes they do. Fixed LTE also works on 5G as long as it's an approved router.
@AfriNatic - very interesting thanks - but the only 5g modem I see available in SA is the Nokia Fastmile 5G which isn't supported. Any chance MTN will include that as a supported device?

Look I have about 13 Pure LTE packages, that is the MTN ones. Where I am using them they work fine. I personally also tried the Pure LTE at my residence and it was a **** show. So I canceled the MTN sim and ordered Telkom one. Super happy with the speeds and I have 2TB of data per month.

Also the Telkom sim you can travel with is not tower locked like the MTN sim. I would suggest you get a prepaid sim of both networks and test the speed in your area before ordering.

I've got a tp-link 4G LTE router, that will be good enough for the Telkom sim?

Just a bump, can I use the Afrihost 2GB mtn package with a 4g router?

@AfriNatic just wondering why MTN is routing KZN traffic via Capetown?

KZN is routed in a load balanced way between CPT and JHB. There is no handover for MTN in KZN unfortunately.

Ok tried with 2 MTN sims - just shows a red light - everything checks out with the IMEI and model number

What device are you using? Make sure it's not network locked and that APN is set correctly

Ok Now MTN has blocked me -

Please insert your SIM into an approved LTE device

Your Pure LTE (MTN) SIM card has been blocked, because you’re using your SIM with an incorrect device.

I've confirmed the device is exactly this:
Nokia

Fastmile 5G Gateway (5G-04W-A)

35588010

So not sure why I have been blocked?
