Everytime there is loadshedding, even if it is not in my suburb (Norton Estates Benoni), the MTN fixed LTE speed dive bombs - the router connects but the internet connection is unusable. Everytime this happens and I call Axxess support, they tell me to change the connection from 4G to 3G. Wait 10 mins and set it back to 4G. They then escalate to MTN and the answer is always that there's nothing wrong on their side. Hours in productivity lost every day this past week. Have tried everything including putting router back to factory defaults and reconfiguring. (B618 router). The connection will just start working again during the night and then it drops again in the morning. The Telkom LTE carries on working but it's not as good. I need answers. Anyone else have this issue?

I am sure someone will be sending you an "answer" of some kind to your email address in due course....

I'm roughly the same area, none of the towers around have battery backup.
When load shedding your router will connect to a different tower much further away, which is more congested / has worse performance.

Thank you, appreciate the reply. Registered for Starlink... lets see what the future holds.

F-LTE is set to work on your specific tower only, if that tower is down then your network is down, it's not going to work on the next available site. Batteries are an issue at the moment unfortunately..

I think this is might a good option for me as well..... I signed my interest, but have not paid the $99 yet. Maybe I should look at it again. Any idea when Starlink will be in available in ZA ?

You can try putting up an antenna, and try get your router to connect to a tower that isn't load shedded, then at least you can have wifi on your phone when there's no local signal.

Someone needs to tell RAIN about Eskom, cause they done 0 planning for power outages lol.
Everytime power goes out 5G goes offline and dead.

Everytime there is loadshedding,...........

Get a Sim from other providers and when Loadshedding hits, put your money towards the one that allows you to keep working. But yes, as other's have said, backup on tower, F-LTE working only to your location etc can be the cause.

How much are you spending because chances are we can find you a "better" option in the area :) ?

/this forum has taught me to become proactive but procrastination hits me so ya.....:X3:

The challenge is it's a small holding at th bottom of a dip. So no fibre - there is one company that's considering putting fibre in that street but we don't know when that will happen. They need more people in the area to sign up as it will be a 7 year return on investment.

Being in a dip they don't have LOS to any of the microwave towers. I can't tell you how many companies they've had over the years climbing on the roof and waving aerials around but we keep trying.

The only option at the moment is LTE. The Telkom LTE helps as a failover when there's load shedding but the speed is an issue - have I mentioned it's a 15 user network

Same thing in my area. During load shedding the tower goes off altogether. "Emergency Calls Only".
However when there is a non-load shedding power interruption the tower does NOT go off.
Go figure that one..... it's almost as if MTN is deliberately turning the tower off during load shedding.

This is a problem all over the country with MTN, no backup power at towers and lots of down time
