MTN Garmap for BlackBerry

Cant seem to find it. It came as a message on my phone and I accepted and downloaded. There was some license code thingy involved. Maybe it disappears after the install?

OK, sorted. Very cool GPS app. Better than BB maps. It would be nice to zoom in closer though. The roads look tiny.

Anyone know how much the activation sms costs? I just sent it but I'm hoping I don't get charged like R100 for it. It doesn't work properly though. No map data, says 'world maps not available' and it doesn't use BIS. I think we need the version made for MTN which it looks like only new contract users and new upgrades will get.

I found the info that I had in my phone.

1) Got SMS thanking me for being a loyal customer and instructions to download MTN Navigator at no extra cost by dialing *123*18# : Did that.
2) Then SMS with link to download: http://garmapformobile.wisepilot.com/ota?msisdn=278******** <-rest of my cell number

Downloaded and installed. Im not surewhy some are saying it doesnt run on BIS or the maps are crap? Mine is perfect.

It doesn't use BIS. You are in for a hefty phone bill if you've been using it a lot. Its a great app but no ways will I be using it. I'm not paying greedy MTN any money I don't need to.

Yep, I was disappointed as well. I installed it using *123*18# and following the link. When the app is running you will see the BB sign next to the 3G icon has disappeared. This means you are using the MTN APN which you are billed for. Funny, that since disabling my APN settings any app that tries to connect to the net through WAP/MTN APN cannot connect to the internet except this damn Garmap program! It must have MTN's APN settings embedded in the app. So now the b@stards can make money off us after saying that "no additional data charges will be levied by MTN for this service, As this is included in the Blackberry Internet Service subscription."

What really p1sses me off is the initial invitation sms screams free at you. Seems that this only means free to download but not free to use. Misleading to say the least, nay purposefully misleading.

Lets compare notes tomorrow night then.

I downloaded the app on my Nokia E61i and it works quite well. Does anyone know if there is a cost for the activation that it asks for when using it for the first time? Is there any other costs like subscription etc? (I'm not talking about data cost).

can ayone confirm that this does infact not use the BIS APN? I just installed it on my 8900, but dont want to use it if it is going to cost me extra.
