MTN improves SMS infrastructure

Fsck security. Rather quit charging people 80c for 1KB of SMS data.

Ahh. SMS security! That's what they needed all along. Will now prevent so many of my SMSes getting stolen/hijacked/killed en route.

Half of them never arrive. Armed escort should do the trick :D

Hmm, security... Would be nice if one could only accept sms's from contacts... but i guess thats shooting your revenue stream in the foot.

MTN spends money on giving the customer a false sense of security.

The truth is that devices exist that can receive all the SMS transmissions from the towers without a problem at all. These devices will even report the device-id that the SMS was intended for, which can then be linked to the phone number, which, thanks to RICA, can then be linked to an ID Number and wham ... the criminals now know who just received a R20 000 deposit into an account.

So if it acts as a spam filter then it better be as good or better than gmail's free spam filter. Most of the time spam filter will act on false positives and that would just frustrate the hell out of me (consumer). Would there be a way to see a "spam" sms folder from MTN? I guess not. This would add create the new "improved" additional billing option to see a spam filter list/detailed sms. So MTN takes it away and will give it back at an additional charge. That is all I'm reading here. Ook maar lekker skelm

Or, criminals can just line up outside banks as they currently do and rob you while you have the cash in hand...
