MTN said I can upgrade on the 6th of Feb, went into an MTN store, woman at the counter said from the 1st of Feb.

How the hell does this work now.

Another question, Im getting free 150MB on the iPhone, what sort of bandwidth usage does Twitter have?

yes.. but I do think that 150MB might be a little light, unless you have access to a wireless network.
I use less than 40MB a month on my iPhone, but I'm on wifi at home and at work, so the only time I actually use 3g data is when I'm out.
