WTF is going on just getting EDGE no 3G. 25KBS I did not pay for this crappy service. Afrihost is getting decent speeds.
MTN Wozup????? 808 don't do f all.
 
I used to live in JBay, there were a lot of areas that only had Edge coverage.

Try phoning the MTN coverage help desk, or 083 1555 and ask them for help /advice.

This f up by Mtn has only started in the last 5 days it seems like they are deliberately throttling us. I phoned them and got a typical clueless idiot.Good reason to cancel my contract but rather the stupid monkey you know than the one you don't.
 
Hey Paul you use MTN or Afrihost? How are your speeds?
 
use both MTN and Afrihost but no data on MTN at the moment
Afrihost is fine but a bit spotty on occasion. Signal is inconsistent.
 
Yep, called MTN got a clown. So rather off to the pub to watch that circus. More entertaining. Will see what happens tomorrow.
 
I use Afrihost, better bang for my buck while staying on MTN
 
True. Got a MTN 1 + 1 so might as well use it even though it's a rip off compared to Afrihost.

That's hectic, I hope you find a solution. I use the MTN network, roaming on it with my Telkom sim. I have a better connection than my neighbours, who are on MTN.
 
I can attest to the spotty connection in Jbay, it really depends on how far you are from the tower. I'm in C-Place with line of sight to both towers so my connection's good enough. Vodacom 3G drops off every now and then. Until two years ago 3G signal wouldn't even reach Fountains properly.

Funny enough, roaming on MTN with Telkom was also better in my experience as well, although this was a while ago. I would use TrueWAN but their throttling policies are quite stringent and my ADSL line has been rock solid.

Off-topic, is there anyone in Jbay with a 10MB DSL connection? The exchange apparently doesn't support it and I know the connection between Humansdorp and Uitenhage is over WiMax, but my line definitely reports that it can sync up to a 10Mb profile.

I thought the connection from Humansdorp was on fiber

Otherwise they really should put a direct link to Jbay Post Office

I also thought so, I remember seeing them lay fiber into the manhole by the corner of St. Francis and Koraal about two years ago.
