Good day,
Does anyone else in the Durban area, mainly Westville(Westville North) /Pinetown (New Germany,Westmead etc) or anywhere in SA experience issues with MTN LTE and 5G.
I have tested with the following devices, Mikrotik HAP AC3 LTE (Cat 6), Samsung Galaxy S21 5G, iPhone 12 Mini,ZTE 5G MC888, and Huawei B535 LTE CAT 7 (Pinetown only)
I noticed an issue around early to mid-September 2024, whereby the internet seemed very laggy, and jittery. Every so often a continuous ping spikes or doesn't respond. Webpages just stop loading,Netflix, Twitter, etc etc. and then it comes right sometimes immediately other times after a few seconds.
At first, I thought it was my router but it seems to be all devices. I tried multiple locations in my home and at work but still the same.
None of the devices allow much configuration besides the Mikrotik.
On the mikrotk, I have tried adjusting the LTE bands,APN ,setting queues , amongst other configs but still, the issue persists. I have plenty of data available so it's not that, tired of adjusting the DNS to Google or Cloudflare or both.
If I try running a speed test on mybroadband or ookla. Sometimes it doesn't load at all other times it hangs while it tries to find a server and ping it, but once it works I can get up to 350 - 400 down and 100 up. (depending)
I called MTN a few times about this but the only resolution was to power off my devices for 2 minutes while they reset something but that doesnt make a difference.
I just wanted to see if this is an only me issue or if others also experienced such.
Thanks
