And any areas in the western cape ?

According to the lady in the store, I would need to get a new sim card to be able to use LTE on MTN's network, and now that it's not going to cost extra, I'm interested.

Worth the dreadful wait in the MTN store queue ?

Funny enough, neither of the two links you supplied are loading the map on my side. Using latest Chrome. Not that I really care tbh. The website is horrible to begin with.
LOL! The maps don't load for me in Firefox, but worked in Chrome.

If you want to play around with LTE in Cape Town, I suggest Cell-C:

I've picked up a strong LTE signal near Cavendish Square as well, so they've expanded since publishing those maps.

Coverage area is still small enough to regard LTE as test only, and major marketing bull****.

It is heartening that you report they are slowly, slowly, expanding the useful LTE footprint ...
