Has anyone else been experiencing serious network issues with MTN?

For the past 2-3 weeks, often when I dial a number and call, the line just goes dead before I hear it ringing, and this happens repeatedly. Try to restart my phone but that doesn't help.

Also, I've been getting voicemail messages without missed calls while my phone is on (as if it had no signal when the call came through), and this happens repeatedly too. Although some calls do still come through.

I'm not the only one having this problem in Cape Town, at least 3 other people have said they're having the same issues.

Anyone up country experiencing these problems?

Same here.

On weekends it is nearly impossible to get through to CellC numbers.

I'm in Centurion and I'm experiencing similar problems. I had zero signal all weekend and I stay very close to a large shopping mall. It was the second weekend in the last month that this happened. At about 08:00 this morning the signal came back as if someone left the power off somewhere over the weekend. At first I thought my phone was faulty but when I inserted my Vodadom data SIM the Vodacom signal was perfect ... so no probs with the phone. It's like MTN is load shedding its signal to save power.

Identical problems but on the East Rand

Couldn't get any response from them until I logged a complaint on Hello Peter. The guy who phoned me found out firsdt hand how bad the signal was; he ended up calling me on a landline because the call kept dropping on my cell

****!

All that cursing at my phones for nothing?!!?

Same issues in Cape Town, started on Friday. Couldn't get anything done on my phones, sim's wouldn't register on different phones than the ones I usually use them on. 3 MTN Numbers, 2 Contract and one Prepaid.

Wonder what they were up to........ where're their techies' blogs?

I guess I must be the only guy in this whole country that:

a) Has never been loadshedded. (seriously, not a single day. both at home and at work)
b) never has problems with MTN. I get through on them when my voda phone cant.
c) Stable, problem-free adsl (need i say more? :D)

Gru, are you a member of parliament, married to one, or do you stay next to one? :)

No network issues experienced on my MTN number for the month.
