MTN or Nashua Mobile

I am due for a phone upgrade (currently with MTN). Really want the HTC Hero, but I think MTN want a pay-in of R1400+ on Anytime 500. Nashua Mobile is offering the phone free. Should I move my contract?:confused:
 
I think you get crap service if the service provider is not the network itself, i would be a little hesitant on Nashua Mobile.

I been thinking about getting the hero too.

Havent seen anything on the net from MTN. If you dont mind me asking, where did you see MTN asking for R1400 pay in on a talk 500 package? I just havent seen anything about this phone on MTN's site.
 
I was considering moving to Nashua last month when it came time to upgrade. Decided to stay with MTN since the package i wanted would cost the same at Nashua but i would have to pay the connection fee.

Got my bill today and it turns out that MTN charge you R92 when you upgrade. If i had known this i would have moved over !

Most people seem to be talking from perception.... I have been with both. Nashua on my previous contract and MTN on my current one.

I had absolutely no problems with Nashua. There billing worked. There was a shop I could pop into in Durban. They even went to far as replacing the screen on my N95 at no cost without questions asked.

I have had nothing but problems with MTN recently. The reason for my switch was the same as you, I could get the phone I wanted cheaper from MTN direct. The initial process went very smoothly with the help of a chap at MTN in the Pavilion but since then.... I started a thread about their billing issues and them just suspending your service for no reason! Last time I needed to call I eventually got some help as I insisted on speaking to someone with a brain. I think their problem is their size.... they have many call centre agents who know very little.

My vote would be for Nashua....... even though their locked ADSL router pisses me off (but that is of no consequence to you).
 
I have been with both as well. I'll never go back to Nashua after the miserable excuse for service I received there. And they make you pay extra for everything (you have to pay for 'customer service' and they keep you waiting too). Also not available after office hours and limited on weekends. Forget it if you have a technical problem, they can't help.

I get the impression that one service provider (direct or not) is as bad as the next. It the luck of the draw. I have also had hassles with MTN's service and billing. Vodacom is no better.

Yip, you are right. Therefore we usually switch to the one that offers us the better price. For a R1400 saving I'd go Nashua...

Or put them to the real test and give each call centre a call and see which takes longer to answer...
 
Good point and seeing as MTN don't seem to even have the phone on offer (though I read on a site somewhere that they were the ones bringing the Hero in), maybe I should just try Nashua. That is if MTN will even port my number across.
 
MTN - ive had brilliant service from their Tygervalley and Willowbridge branch
