MTN Pulse offers 29c rate for some calls

MTN launched its new MTN Pulse service, offering on-net call rates for as low as 29c per minute

I'd rather opt for the current and simple 60 cents/minute to all networks at all times. Why these guys keep on coming up with complicated pricing structures is beyond me.

I will be migrating to prepaid when my contract is up for renewal. Will rather buy a less expensive phone cash price. I now pay R2.30 per call.

In 1997 mtn launched 4 packages. One if them was called pulse.
Another was called pinnacle. I can't recall the other two.

And that is also the problem. All the networks are trying to lure people to theirs through network exclusive promotions. Doesn't work because everyone is scattered among 4 networks so unless you get all your friends and family on the same one and actually want to talk so much with them it's completely useless and just complicated. It's even worse with number portability and every network having a dozen or so dialing codes.

All we really want is good deals like R500 for 1000 minutes to any network. That will be a lot more useful and will lure a lot more customers.

I don't care about saving x% when you're on y network and q time of day, when there is planetary alignment with Jupiter while there moon is in the waxing phase - just keep it simple, transparent and predictable

Yes I know. It's unrealistic to expect the same tariff as someone who calls a lot though.

Yes, and they punted Pulse the most - companion was entry level, Pinnacle was fancy business with a good phone, Performer was for the real brag artists but Pulse was for the everyday regular user who wanted a good handset.
