MTN reception / LTE

hi, I ported over to mtn to take advantage of their iphone specials.
Since then I have just endless issues with dropped calls, not receiving calls and absolutely no LTE. They assured me that my area (reddersburg street - centurion) is covered by lte, so the phone might be faulty. Keeping the repair shop as last option I have logged numerous calls for reception - which resulted in less than naught. I had them disable lte on my service and re enable it - rebooted the phone etc etc also to no avail. Took it to the repair shop just before xmas and they replaced it (only received the phone yesterday - very quiet xmas with no smartphone)

now it is EAXCTLY like before - phone has 1 or 2 bars reception, enough to give me an sms to say I have a voice message. still not lte (driven from centurion to vander bijl and back ) all this sjlep really makes me like an idiot for moving over to mtn.

Is there anyone from MTN that reads these message that can assist? I have found a lot of other people on the net with reception issues in centurion. Maybe there is a fault on the network or perhaps it is just over congested? MTN needs to do something about tho - lots of unhappy customers

Make sure you have a 128k simcard. Try calling 1555 and ask them if they can see if your sim is a 128k sim or not if you are not sure. MTN refuses to allow LTE on 64k sims.

Your SIM card should have LTE written on it. I went in for an upgrade yesterday and the lady said I need to sim swap to get LTE. The new sim card clearly showed LTE on it.

If the sim says 3G too it means its a 128k simcard.

Yeah the main thing is MTN is restricting LTE to 128k simcards only. You should be able to contact 808 or 1555 and they will be able to tell you if the simcard that is currently linked to your number is 128k, 64k or very old 32k or 16k
