So, I upgraded my contract from an MTN MyCall 100 to an MTN AnyTime 200 on the 17th of November. I was told by MTN that my upgraded contract would only take affect the following invoice cycle, and dialing 16202 confirmed this. I still had my 100 or so off peak minutes, and on the 8th of December, I had R200 + R80 (What they determined my minutes to be worth, as a carry over) Rand Value, so far so good.
Now when I received my invoice for the period of 7/11/08 to 7/12/08 I got a bit surprised. For that month, even though I clearly did not have it, I was charged for an MTN Anytime 200 contract. My previous contract rate was something like R70 a month, which was now R170 (why R170 and not R200, I don't know)
The bad part was that I was still charged for every service as if I was still on a MyCall 100 contract. I still paid separately for my data use, phone calls, SMSes, etc. I can see in the itemized billing that these charges were for the whole month, and not just the time before I got my upgrade...
So, from what it looks like, I paid for a service that I clearly did not have, since their own info on the bill contradicts it... Have I been blatantly ripped off, or am I missing something?
