The numbers thrown around makes me want to throw up.
How about Highway to Hell rather"back in black" from AC/DC must be the theme song for BEE
The numbers thrown around makes me want to throw up. Reminds me of that Dire Straights song..Money for Nothing....$&% BEE
I was thinking the same thing.
And guess who funded their wealth?Lol! I cant help but laugh at how sick those numbers are. 200 million rand. Shees. It makes me sick to my stomach at how rich some people can get.
Phuthuma is by far the best CEO in South Africa/Africa. He has brought MTN to where it is today... BEE has nothing to do with it
You will not think of him as a Multi millionare in the street. He drives a Green Landrover
And not a new one either, those outback types![]()
So what!? They're a business and are providing a valuable service to those countries. They're not a charity, even though their CSR program gives back to the poor communities they make a profit from. Should they rather not invest in the infrastructure of those countries? Should they rather not make a profit? Should they rather shove the middle finger in the face of their investors and tell them they're doing this for the good of the people instead, and subsequently lose all investment?
No - they're investing in infrastructure, providing a much needed service and turning a profit in doing so, while still giving back to the communities in the form of their CSR program. If the people didn't want the service, they wouldn't buy it. If they couldn't afford it, they wouldn't buy it. MTN are not forcing the people to purchase MTN products - they're providing them with the opportunity to do so. There is no gun being forced to anyone's head here.
And the fact of the matter is that this is how business operates in a capitalist society. I say kudos to them! Well run company, providing a valuable service, turning a good profit and keeping their investors happy as well. You're just looking for an outlet to vent your pent up anger...

How is this MTN's best kept secret?MTN’s best kept secret is out, hold on to your shares. At least chief executive Phuthuma Nhleko is reluctant to get rid of his.
When did he sell them? And why did he sell them if he was gonna buy 1 million in November and 1 million last week???Nhleko had the option of selling 2 million shares in the company he shepherds, but only sold about 877 000, at a value of more than R90-million.
Is this article perhaps just an advert to buy MTN shares?Had he exercised the full option, he would have cashed in more than R200-million. As of March 2008, Nhleko had a 1.03% direct shareholding in MTN that amounted to R2.3-billion. He then bought 1 million shares in November and added another million to his portfolio last week.
