MTN shop in Carletonville robbed

So this small MTN shop in Carletonville (next to Telkom shop) was robbed today around lunch-time. I had received a call to go pick up my phone and card for my new contract, but I was delayed. When I got there they had just been held up. Everything, even the employee's phones, were stolen. The poor guy says to me, "sorry they took your phone", after he's been tied up and gagged and had a gun pointed at him :mad::mad:.

That sucks afaik the police station is just across the street
 
No, according to the employee I spoke to they were neatly dressed, but wearing casual clothes. One of them walked past the shop a few times and he thought the guy was on a lunch-break or something. They must've been scoping out the shop for a while. They knew about the panic button too.
 
Criminals don't target Telkom.

Call it professional courtesy :rolleyes:

Eish, I hope you won't lose out on the contract or have to pay anything in... :(

But be glad you missed the robbers...

Can't see how MTN can charge me for anything, wonder if I'll have to reapply though.

The girl at the Vodacom kiosk inside the Telkom shop pushed their panic button, so the robbers just took the keys to one of the MTN guy's cars and left.

It just p!sses me off that these MTN employees also had their own phones stolen. I would hate to lose my existing phone (TYTN).

Apparently the other customer they phoned was in the shop with the three employees when the robbery occurred. They bound their hands and feet with cable ties and gagged them. Really glad I missed that, the MTN guy I spoke to said he was just waiting for the bullet cos the robbers didn't know what key opened what and they were getting impatient. It's a sad thing that after all this people just have to grateful they're still alive :(.
 
Its terrible, there's just no law and order anymore. Sometimes think these big shopping centres should just have guys on the roof with rifles so they can blow the fskcers away as they come out.
 
I'm surprised they didn't walk across the street and rob the police station as well.

I guess they must've when the alarm went off next door. There wasn't much of a police presence afterwards, but I don't know what the procedure is and I don't want to run the police down due to my own ignorance.

Yeah but you'd think if they heard an alarm going off they could at least look out the front door. :rolleyes:
