Mtn Slashes Its Prices

MTN also hopes to have dual Edge/3G cards available soon. PCI modems - these slot into the motherboard of a desktop computer - are being tested by MTN and will also be launched soon.

IMO, a good idea as many people (that I know) own Desktops as opposed to laptops and they have MTN contracts. So connectivity will be easy I guess.
Hopefully the prices will be a tad lower than expected.

The flexibility of MTN's pricing plans shows business wisdom,it allow users to try-it-out before commiting themselves to lengthy contracts.

Flexible packages & options to suit different requirements & wallets

Its a good launch,I wish EDGE every success.

One more option for consumer, the more the better :)

A good article there :), and great to have MTN onboard for the advancement of Internet Connectivity in SA, like Gooku mentioned - more options for consumers :).

There is one thing I think we need to confirm though via comparative study/research:
"The new rates are among the lowest charged by cellular operators worldwide,"
The next question is how low will CellC go, and how much of the following is anticipation of CellC joining the party with even more affordable rates...?
MTN plays down the prospect of a price war with Vodacom, though it says prices could fall even further. "This pricing is very aggressive. Our intention was to set a level that made sense, though there could be a further 5%-10% movement in the next couple of months."
LOL @
No-one is satisfactorily addressing this market, he says.
Comments Noone...:D
The idea, Paruk says, is to sign up as many customers as possible by setting prices low. "In some senses this is a bit of a gamble [for MTN], but we believe there is a huge opportunity here that only wireless operators in Africa have."
Now that's exactly the kind of forward thinking that SA needs, let's hope it is for real, and that the likes of WBS, Sentech take note & adjust their business plans accordingly ;).

BRILLIANT!! This is EXACTLY what we need in this bandwidth-ridden country.

Unfortunately however, R1470 for 3gigs of international DATA just doesnt cut the cake...

A VERY good try though MTN, keep it up!

Nice going MTN, positive move.. now I will keep my MTN contract as well as a show of faith hehehehe :)
