MTN specials

A shop around here says "the system was down" and "they are busy loading the new specials". Who to believe?

good question. someone willing to phone retentions on 808 again?
 
MTN Direct (083123DOOR) says the old specials are valid until the new ones are out. They don't know when the new ones will be available.
 
Is it just me, or is MTN a big ripoff since they changed to the number of rands airtime included contracts? If you work it around to free minutes, you pay much more than for say a Vodacom Weekender or Cell C Casualchat.
 
Another MTN shop says the specials will only come out on the 12th of July.

Yes the new contracts are not as cheap as they were. But if you're on the low income side, and just dont like cell c and virgin, mtn is the only option for me. My current contract, mycall100, I got 2 years back for R29 pm.
 
I know this thread is about MTN specials, but I have found the same lack of info from Vodacom and Vodashops as well. Looked at the kind of info the guys in the UK get from Vodafone - you just can't compare. Models are announced well in advance and one can pre-order directly from the website etc. The local Vodacom4me website ran the same "Latest Poll" on their homepage for about 6 months previously. The whole service just appears a bit stale and unattented to.

Let's hope that since Vodafone bought out Telkom, customer service will improve.
 
Don't count on it. This is proudly SA. I was also disappointed. Due for a Vodacom upgrade in 4 days time and its such a hassle to get any decent info out of Vodacom....now I'm rethinking about renewing
 
The Vodacom4me (4u/4us?) site has not changed one single bit in the past 6 years. You can bet your life on some kind of error message no matter which service on the site you are utilizing/querying.

Even the login logo has remained the same for the past 6 years and the main page poll if I am not mistaking. Vodacom is surerly the cellular company paying the least amount of attention to its own online presense!

Just try and check your detailed phone report, upgrade or some other specific function - you are 100% guaranteed to be met with some or other error message and some sorry excuse from Vodacom.

But - then again, it is 2009 and the internet has only been around for the last 14 years or so... :(
 
lol - just tried to check my upgrade status on Vodacom4me and got the following message:

"We are currently experiencing problems servicing your request. Error Code: v4me-23-300"

Go Vodacom! lol...Let's hope Vodafone jumps in and appoints some people knowing what they are doing (like reading and spelling and maths...)! :D
 
Vodacom4me is 1000x better than MTN Active. Really. It does give that "We are currently experiencing ..." error message way too often, which is annoying, but I much rather have that than try to work through MTN's pathetic effort of a personal service website.
 
They could even have uploaded it this morning. But hell, not even the shops have it yet.
 
Just spoken to a guy at mtn direct, and he told me he will email them to me. He wanted to fax it, but I haven't got a fax nearby now. So he said he will scan them quickly and email them to me. Lets hope he do it now.
