MTN threatening SA: report

Tax avoidance is not illegal.

Just 'cos the guys that wrote the laws were less-than-competent ...

Yea, listen parliament, I'm also moving my HQ to some island if I don't get some tax credits!

There will be no job losses, but you will loose dozens, maybe hundreds of Rands!

/Kom vrou, pak die karavaan, ons trek Mauritius toe!/

This will be interesting vs Ramaphosa involvement and for OTHER large companies too as I suspect there is a lot of tax avoidance

As much as I may think the government misuses or inefficiently uses tax revenue, I have no sympathy for companies that shop around for the lowest tax rates while generating large portions of their revenue from the country involved.

Let them go. They should sell to Telkom while they are at it. They should Sell the South African subsidiary.

Well then Government can just change the cell licencing criteria on who can be a cell service provider.....

How ? MTN SA will probably remain in SA, the worldwide headquarter will just move. MTN SA will comply with licensing criterias.

C'mon peeps, stop thinking with your feelings. This is bad news for SA. Another indication the current regime is making SA increasingly hostile to business.

Empty threats by MTN.

Base Erosion and Profit Shifting is being addressed world wide. Soon there will be nowhere left to hide.
