Hi guys,

The MTN tower at Fancourt isn't accepting any 3G connections since the 23rd of March.
Now, this is obviously not your fault - but I haven't had any joy dealing with MTN directly, so perhaps you guys know who to talk to and can escalate.

Afrihost Mifi works perfectly everywhere else in the vicinity (Blanco) just not Fancourt. The same goes for several Afrihost users there and things are getting desperate. Without internet at home and all this rainy weather I'd hate to see someone get hurt in a golfcart accident.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Conack

This 3G connection you are having a problem with. Have you tried putting the sim in your mobile device to see if it will pick up 3G?

Also just check on the modem interface in the settings that you maybe did not change the network mode.

I'm here in Heatherlands, not far from the two traffic circles, and I've got full signal and speed great.

Hi Grant,

Curiously it's just Fancourt that's offline. 3 separate Afrihost Mifi units (my own included) are stuck on "no signal".
As soon as I drive towards the CBD (as close as Heatherpark Spar) it comes online and works perfectly.

So there must be a problem with the Fancourt tower specifically I'm thinking.
PS. That's a pretty awesome connection you've got there, there must be a tower not too far off :)

I hope for your part, that the tower gets fixed, or switches it self back on.

There is a tower not far away from me, just up the road on the left from George(CBD) to Blanco. When I was living in Blanco, I used to get speeds in excuse of 10 Mbps. Fastest ever I got was 18 Mbps. :->

Regards

Thanks, it's still offline and now I'm getting the evil eye for suggesting Afrihost in the first place

Many BS are giving me this.
Fancourt has been dead for ages.
Usual MTN BS, good luck to having it fixed.
