MTN Uncapped - Advice needed - Durban

Hi all

I am considering getting the uncapped lite deal on the 12 months contract, Im in Durban Overport area.

Can anyone give any advice on the speeds around Durban/Overport/Musgrave area.

I know the first 3 gb would be okay but after this how is it.

I wont be downloading but will be youtubing, streaming radio etc.

How long roughly would it take to load up google to search.

Would a 5 minute video on youtube buffer constantly.

I heard it drops to EDGE speed which i have on the blackberry and it isnt too bad but different story I suppose when on a laptop.

Any advice would be great.
 
Ive done that but most of it relates to other area not Durban.

And people saying its crawling speed etc.

I have EDGE on the blackberry and its ok.

If browsing is still ok after throttling then I may go for it but if what some people are saying is true that loading the speedtest page or google takes over 5 minutes Ill stay away abviously.

Now its on a 12 month contract its tempting as we only have prepaid talkom line at the house so more costs involved for adsl.

Anyone from Durban fancy chipping in an answer?

Yeah, I'm not on this mtn-jobbie, so I really can't comment. I just thought the folks over there would be able to better answer your questions. Again, I'd suggest you pose your question in that thread ;)
 
I'm a bit away from Durban, but I can tell you on a laptop (in my case) once it goes on EDGE you can't even browse...and lately it's been on edge more often than not.
 
Where are you located MsDenz.

Im getting all sorts of conflicting messages...and there is NO way to test it...once you sign up they have you! so just wanna be sure.

Yes, just go into an MTN and ask...it isnt advertised online but is in their latest magazine..

299 for the dongle, or 349 for 5 user wifi.

Ive decided to gofo adsl anyway....too many people having problems with MTN Uncapped and who knows...in 6 months everything could change...unlikely I know.

also with dstv now offering streaming i would rather have a constant reliable connection
