MTN vs Rain — Uncapped mobile data showdown

For me I will just ask one question "what do you do online" because if you start mentioning torrent limit on Rain Network, how important is torrent to average internet user. About streaming 720p is old resolution but is not bad and this bottleneck is there to limit buffering experience, if we compare MTN 400GB to Rain unlimited home 5G basic
Rain wins for me first thing MTN plan to charge more for router come January 2022, rain don't have that T&C
When it comes to DL speed up to 25Mbps is way better than up to 10Mbps
Based on VOD streaming bandwidth requirements MTN will be able to do 1080p on R499 plan

Article is not mentioning the fact that you HAVE TO buy a LTE router from MTN on the month to month packages even if you already have one.

even one of the approved ones on their list?

Yes. I have been to 2 or 3 MTN stores. Same story.

If you have the correct one it is fine.
Problem is, you have to take it into the store, to "pair" it with the sim in order to restrict it to the speed package that you buy.

I was at the MTN store today specifically to get confirmation about the SIM only month to month and was told that uncapped is only available on contract! Where do you guys see month to month?

Has anything changed recently?
I had my router with me to the last store in Wellington.

It is available month to month, says so in the booklet and I also confirmed in store.

I'll go check again but in 2 stores they said yes, but couldn't get the deal without a router on the system when I tried to take it out....

I'm a bit confused, are these deals ONLY valid for showmax, etc... as shown below? 1633813318440.jpg

Rain has more user complaints than any other network provider. I personally will never use them again. MTN also told me I had to buy a router and was contract only, yet I have a Huawei B618. MTN also drop speeds were I droped from 120Mb to 20Mb and have to call axxess to reset my SIM to get speed back up again. Hopefully these deals don't do that.
