MTN won't exchange faulty extender

Got a router/extender package from MTN

Instructions re the extender were incorrect (wrong IP address) but managed to get it going. It lasts 1 minute, then the computer or phone loses the signal from the extender

Tried it at friend's house, got it configured with his router. Same story. If it is turned off and back on, it gets the network after 30 seconds and it lasts a minute before dropping out

Called MTN. They do not support this unit, asked where I got it - "from your shop" I said. Took it back. No more stock of this item, so cannot assist they said and pushed it back over the counter. Would not refund the cost as was part of a package. So took router plus extender back. They went away and tested router, said it is 100%. Yes I said, but the extender is not and since this is part of the sale, I want a replacement or a refund. Cannot refund something which is working. Argued back and forth to no avail

Bought a TP Link device which works 100%

This is exactly why network service providers should stick to providing network services and not operate retail stores. Personally I would never buy anything from a network's retail stores.

If you bought the item within 6 months you're covered by the CPA surely. Go back and ask them what happens when their MTN superior receives a lawyer's letter with their names in it for not adhering to basic consumer laws.

Been back there 3 times already and wasted nearly a day, so have written it off, but wanted you to realise the games they play. TP Link device was R 345,00

You're being too soft.. you give them all their **** back and tell them you want your money back, you don't pick up your **** and leave.. you leave your **** there.
How did you pay? There are many ways to reverse it depending on the method.

Is this an official MTN store or a franchise like cell network etc?
Pop me some details ie your contact number, the place you got the device from, I'd be interested to follow up on this one, get the dealer principle involved in the matter.
