@ MTNDD ...

Some of my previous posts bemoaned the weak MTN signal I enjoyed (sic) at my office (Kya Sands, Randburg) and at my home, only 4 km away, in Bellairspark, Randburg.

The last week or so I have had constant 3G signal at the office (where before it was erratic), and I also have reliable 3G signal at my home, where before I only had a weak GPRS / EDGE signal.

Can you confirm if the MTN towers in the above areas have recently been upgraded? And .... if so, are they also HSDPA ready?

Will check and come back to you on that but glad to hear that things are looking better

Busy with 3G phase 2 integration into phase one.

Any plans to improve the signal in Lynnwood Pretoria

Hi MTN_DD,

I live in Lynnwood Pretoria. The 3G signal in this area is very weak. I can only get a 3G signal with my datacard with the external antenna (and then the signal strength is zero bars according to the MTN dashboard software !!!!).

The closest tower in my area is at Lynnwood Galleries. (a small shopping centre). I can receive a strong GPRS/EDGE signal from this tower but is not 3G enabled.

Are there any plans to improve the 3G signal in Lynnwood?

Errr :confused: ... Any chance you can translate the above? i.e. is it good news or bad news? And is HSDPA available? I mean "phase 2 integration into phase 1" actually sounds retrogressive ...:eek:

LOL

It does - The phase 2 roll out is in progress so if you are getting 3G there now then you should also be getting HSDPA as all our current 3G sites have been upgraded to HSDPA

Is that better?

MTNDD :)

Is that better?

Much better, thanks. It's so much clearer when written in English!:D

One more question ... is the HSDPA-capable H220, or any other USB DataCard, available via MTN as yet ..? VC had had it available since September I think.

@atomcrusher

We have got stock of the E220 in warehouse, will find out if they are out in store as yet it's the HSDPA 3.6 enabled USB modem - Very nice piece of hardware I want one

MTNDD :D

@atomcrusher

We have got stock of the E220 in warehouse,

... hope they don't have a 'sell by' date ...:rolleyes: because already the firmware will probably be several releases behind.

These were promised mid-November by MTN, on this forum, and Vodacom has had them available since about September.
