In relation to honourary degrees, yes that is something that should be done. If a University hands out an honorary degree for something and then the recipient in later years does precisely the opposite he should no longer have the honor of that degree.

Should all University qualification-holding professionals be tracked down and monitored to ascertain whether they still deserve to hold their qualifications?

That's an excellent suggestion. There should be yearly assessment for all proffessionals to make sure they keep their skills up to date.

IMHO there are far too many poephols running wild out there whipping out degrees and diplomas left right and centre when in fact they have no clue.
