Hi

I currently have two Cell C simcards.
The first sim is a Cell C giga 100 prepaid data sim.
The second sim is a prepaid Cell C voice sim.
I would like to link my prepaid Cell C voice sim to my Cell C giga 100 prepaid data sim using the Multi Data Connect service, so that my prepaid voice sim can utilize the data from my Cell C giga 100 prepaid data sim.

Is the above possible on Cell C's recently launched Multi Data Connect service ?
Perhaps the Cell C rep can confirm if this is indeed possible ?

I have been to a Cell C store and have phoned customer care on 140, but they have not been able to assist me.

Thank you

Hi Porshe

We have responded to you via email.

Apparently I need a new sim to use the service, cannot use my existing sim card to access data on another data contract I have with cell C.

I do not want to loose my number that I have had for many years. I bought a Sim. Ported to cell c now they say I can only connect a new number. That spoils things for. @Cell_C is there not a work around?

Is Multi-Data Connect available to existing customers or new customers only?
Multi-Data Connect is available to new and existing customers, including consumers, business and government customers

Only saying what lady in store said. Will be contacting Cell C today.

"update" so spoke to there support and can not connect existing numbers. You need to buy a new sim and then connect immediately to primary sim. This is a poor product in my view. The short comings are actually pretty big then.

Hi RichardG

Yes, it has to be a new SIM card.

What do mean by new SIM card...a new number or move old number to new sim (sim swop)?

This thing is confusing as hell even the shops can't explain the procedure

So basically what has to happen is, a new sim gets bought, Cell C Rica's and link the sim. So whatever phone number you get is the phone number. You can't connect a ported number even if the sim is new. Now that is a disappointment to say the least.

Agreed, the shops aren't even clued up on this new product offering.

What the representative probably meant is the sim card has to be new RICA in-store and immediately linked to the primary sim card as the secondary card newly rica sim carsvwill only be for data connectivity if on prepaid you've the option as primary or secondary

Now I understand how this product works. Example Giga 200 / 100 will have a number assigned once RICA, linking a secondary card won't have number assigned cause if you insert sim card in handset you'll see a notification sim card failed ,unless you opt for the secondary card to be your primary then a number will be assigned and your GIGA sim card won't have a number anymore cause the RICA/Serial number will be linked to secondary.. Basically if you wanna share a giga product with a family member it won't allow them to call out. Primary sim card will be allowed in the handset, secondary sim card will display sim card registration failed. This is on a contract line, unsure if prepaid works the same..
