I am considering using ADSL to connect some of our office together using VPN.
Does anyone know of a router that support point to multi-point VPN's (unsure if this is the correct term).
My thought was to have a 1Mbps line installed at the main branch, with 385kbps ones at the branches with uncapped accounts. I do realise that ADSL is "best effort" ( ) but we would really like to see whether the cost of upgrading out 64k Doginets to 128k ones is really worth it.
Comments welcome

I set one up using normal Telkom marconi routers and a linux box running openvpn at each location

Probably the easiest way of doing this is with IPCop - I got it to work with net-to-net VPN (which is what you would want) very easily - although only with a single link at this point.

The critical things to remember tho are a) The VPN server boxes time MUST be synced, and b) the local LAN network addresses need to be different. They can't overlap.

I have successfully set up and installed a multi vpn using only routers. The initial cost of the routers is expensive but pays off the in the long run. The routers also support VoIP so the branches communicate with each other over the VoIP at no cost. I have the set up running between Jhb, Durban, and Cape Town. The Jhb branch is the head office and is running a 1024k ADSL line and the branches running 512k lines. I have also configured the routers with bandwith prioritising.

If I may ask, what routers do you have? :)

I really suggest you guys take a look at Mikrotik RouterOS.
www.mikrotik.com

Its an awesome router. Its powerful, stable and has so many features that I cant list them all here.

Uniterm Direct are local suppliers of the Software and can get you small embedded systems to run it on (www.routerboard.com)
