Multichoice gears up for competition

Multichoice can have all these new developments, but until one has a CHOICE (as everybody has been dying for), I don't really see how it benefits me.
 
I dont think multichoice can claim the decoders as their own, maybe if they were given out for free but I am sorry I paid for my decoder, I own it - not Multichoice. Typical monopoly and I cant wait for it to all come crashing down.

I so much agree with you I`m also so sick of the monopoly of multichoice (Not for long) . Cant wait to switch over even if I need to get a other decoder.We really made Multichoice such a rich company.:mad:
 
I have one fear!

What happens if DSTV has 10 channels I like. Along come the other 2 and take 6 channels from DSTV. So that means I have to Pay R439 for 5 channels (DSTV), Lets say R200.00 for 3 channels on Telkom and another R200.00 for another 3 channels on ESat.

So I will end up paying more?!?!?!
 
why does/will nobody let you choose the channels you want to watch!!!! I cannot understand it!! there is an enormous market out there. let people pay for what they want to watch! it really is simple! I dont want more nonsense channels! i want a REAL CHOICE.
 
Agreed. like a pay as you use system. R20 per chanell per month or something. Go online tick Mnet, your acc gets debited R20 and you have that spqacific chanell for one month.
 
According to Multichoice CTO Gerdus Van Eeden their current decoders are not technically suitable for a multi-smartcard environment as the current built makes decoder sharing impossible.

Ah ha. Thus it begins... Whilst we would love to be able to share our decoder with everyone else, it really just isn't technically feasible...
 
Just like Telkom does not have the equipment to split local/international. Maybe this is why that had that smartcard marriage BS some time ago.

Exactly.

I would be very happy to sell my decoder back to MC at my cost price.

I don't understand their logic. They actively disallow 3rd party decoders, then they block their own software to prevent other providers.

Something has to give way here.
